komen oc, #8008 campaign

Komen OC, #8008 Campaign

Strategy 8008

#8008 campaign asks fundraisers, their friends, colleagues, and family to tweet and use their social networking status and name to create buzz about….you got it, boobs (“8008″ on a calculator).  More specifically, it asks fundraisers to use these tools to get their network to ask, “What is that?” “Why did you change your name? (in Facebook)” “What are you up to now?” “What does 8008 mean and why are you trying to reach 125?”

Ultimately, it’s about creating conversation, curiosity, and buzz. All in an effort to raise more money for the walk taking place September 27th.

Komen will see how this works because of the unusual dollar amounts. The goal is for this to get somewhat sticky and create questions, comments, and hopefully a few nostalgic laughs.

We understand this is a little unconventional. Most viral things are.

Follow the 30 day progress of the campaign through the custom Twitter hash: #8008.
